”But the people divided their religion among them into sects – each faction, in what it has, rejoicing.” (23:53)
This verse points to the fact that each religion and each of its sects rejoice in what they have, and keep the Way unto God divided and fragmented because of that.
While in truth, all sects and religions are in essence the expression of the same One truth.
We will never achieve universal salvation until we recognize Our Universal Spiritual Affinity and Brotherhood.
